THE TURTLES ARE BACK:

there's a part of me that misses being 6 years old and watching TMNT on saturday morning television, in fact sometimes i wish i had a time machine... so with that, lets talk about TMNT in time: re-shelled...

STORYLINE: well, there ain't much of one, you are your turtle of choice, and Krang and shredder are your enemies as usual, and you get thrown around the ages fighting foot soldiers of colour coded degrees of difficulty. there are also various characters from the series and comics as bosses plus the occasional massive dudes with guns or bazookas.
Essentially it's still the old TMNT in time, just on PS3.

GRAPHICS: yes they have upgraded it to HD and yeah it looks good, but essentially it's still TMNT in time, just better visual upgrade.

GAMEPLAY:
now this be the important bit in my eyes, graphics and story are important but this is the where it gets crucial.

The gameplay is simple, left stick is movement, X is jump, Triangle is special attack and square is normal attack. the game makes sense, fight to the end of the 8 levels, with only 6 lives at your disposal.

once completed you can then go and play any level you want with 99 lives to use, you also have a survival mode where you get one life for each level, a multiplayer mode online and offline for up to 4 players and thats about it.

TROPHIES: the trophies range from the basic, complete with every turtle etc and various tasks for different levels and then there are the harder ones like complete survival mode.

One trophy that has got on my nips involves you getting to the end of story mode (6 lives only) gaining 8000 points, which i must say is impossible, considering that the points for a kill are between 10 and 60ish and every time you die you loose 100 points, getting to near the end is hard work with high points, it seems possible but i guarantee you'll have to continue evetually which will set your score back to 0 which makes you have to start again!... ARGH!

PRICE: I paid £7.99 same as I did for the new PSN WORMS and it is an addictive game that feels much more worth it's value in money compared to most major games.

OVERALL: I love it, it's annoying in a way that makes you want to play again and again and beat the trophy and in game targets. If you like TMNT then you'll love it more than the recent film game and if your not but you remember the old game or still have a big kid in your heart for old-school streets of rage style arcade games then this is for you...

On the other hand if you in no way like any game that isn't full of video story sequences, masses of controls, realistic graphics, over the top war situations or non-violence or gore, then it ain't for you.

MY VIEW: gets 9/10 turtle shells, purely due to the addictive and easily playable and darn right old-schoolness of the thing! Cowabunga dudes!
